Hosted by Ethan Gordon, Debbie Chase, and Doug Moleux, otherwise known as the International Rules Committee for the Summer Optimization Melee (IRCSOM for short)
June 26, 2025 (No points will be awarded for anything that happened previous to or post competition.) The championship week will end August 14, 2025
The scorecards will be digital this year and must be filled out by the end of the meeting. Individuals will be responsible for submitting their scorecard each week. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit of points.
At the end of the day, the answer is simple – we have the game to make more money! That’s the bottom line. We all believe that BNI works or we wouldn’t be here. That said, summer is historically a time of the year when members tend to slack off in many important ways: referrals, 1 to 1’s, CEU’s, etc. The summer games were created to re-invigorate the chapter in this otherwise slow time of the year and to help form even stronger connections and bonds among our membership. Our past efforts have raised our chapter’s stats significantly – as a result, we made more money!
Is it a burden to make more money? Of course not. Your participation in support of your team is essential to your role as a good BNI member. We’re all counting on each other.
Each team shall have a captain (or co-captains) selected by that team (or assigned one by the IRCSOM if they don’t select one on their own). It’s the captain’s job to help motivate their team and help organize things like team meetings and assure that the team has a plan when it comes to participating in the special events throughout the game, like: BNIdol, 40-Second Olympics, silent commercials, etc.. It’s the captain’s job to make sure the team is ready to compete each week.
In addition, it’s the captain’s job to notify the IRCSOM of any special bonus points their team earned that week. For example, the team captain should email the IRCSOM (That’s Ethan and Debbie in case you forgot) with team photos and any other team activity that needs to be reported for points.
Individuals are responsible for scoring themselves each week. Much of the game will rely on the honor system, so please be honest and keep in mind that this is a game designed to reinforce good BNI member habits. Loopholes or rule-bending is frowned upon as it is not in the spirit of the game.
Scorecards will be digital this summer. You’ll have to find the link to the online scorecard in the weekly email!!!! That means you have to open it!
The winning team will be honored with free admission to this year’s 2025 Summer Games Awards Banquet, which will be held shortly after the games are completed. This year, we will also introduce a trophy—the Pazienza Cup—on which the winners’ names will be engraved each summer.
Teams will be awarded weekly points for the following categories (points are per item):
Special Bonus Points will be issued each week in addition to the regular points. These bonus point opportunities will be announced each week.
Winner of weekly best commercial will gain 20 points for their team – this year the best commercial will remain independent of the team competitions. In other words, the Idol winner is not the best commercial of the week. Teammates may NOT award each other the best commercial.
First Week Bonus Points: Each team that gets the name of their team captain to IRCSOM before the next TCOB meeting gets 20 points. If you do not pick a captain, one will be selected for you, and believe us… you’re gonna love it (but you might not)!
Individuals will be responsible for keeping and submitting their scorecards each week. This summer all scorecards will be submitted digitally. You must submit your scorecard before the end of the meeting each week. If you forget to submit your points, they will be forfeited.
During the competition, you can only get credit for one 1to1 per chapter member (no duplicate 1to1s during the competition)…it doesn’t mean you can’t have more than one 1to1 with someone during the competition, but you can only score it once.
Anti-Sandbagging Supplemental (The ASS Rule)
There will be a weekly cap of 10 TYFCB slips per person. It’s important that we use the games as an opportunity for those who don’t regularly submit TYFCB to catch up, but it unfairly skews the game, and we’d rather you submit your slips monthly, if not weekly, throughout the year. Don’t hold back on entering slips because people rely on and get points for being thanked.
